Beginning Hardanger Quaker Box
Whether you are a beginner or have done hardanger for years, this is the perfect class to learn the basics of hardanger embroidery and pick up a few tips along the way. Starting with a valuable basting technique, followed by flawless anchoring and binding, kloster block placement, formation and journey direction. Learn the ease of cutting, along with plain wrapped bars, the perfect picot and the dove’s eye filling stitch. Each kit comes with explicit charted instructions, an unfinished box, so you can create your own color combination for the box finish and the surrounding cross stitch. This 5” x 5” design is stitched on 25ct Lugana in Country Vintage Mocha, using DMC Pearl Cotton #738. We will be learning on a sample cloth with contrasting fibers and each student will experience cutting as I will have pre-stitched sample cloths so we all can learn to cut together. All you need to bring is additional lighting and magnification if needed, along with a very sharp embroidery scissors if you have one (otherwise my white handle and/or pink handle scissors will be available for purchase at Welcome Stitchery) and the most important part – a desire to learn something new… we will have a great time!!
